Fragaria False Strawberry

A ornamental strawberry with showy, cherry-red flowers in spring. It is slightly mounded with luscious dark green foliage that creeps along to create a wonderful groundcover. This Fragaria was developed in 1966 by crossing the garden strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa) with marsh cinquefoil (Potentilla palustris) which has red-purple flowers. What resulted is an excellent groundcover that produces less fruit, but large pinkish red blossoms throughout most of the summer.

Height 6-8".
Full Sun.
Zone 3.

Ajuga is a good ground cover for part shade to full sun.

Phlox is a good ground cover for part shade to full sun. Looks great flowing over a rock wall.

Sedum is a good ground cover for full sun and is drought tolerant. It also works great on Green Roofs.
